(Apero in Paris)
We meet Daria around noon on a sticky summer day, when the nonexistent breeze makes you feel quite unattractive as you dab your melting face, cursing the heat wave with your finest selection of swear words.
But that is not applicable to Daria. Her arrival is marked by a flair of nonchalant grandeur: she weaves her way through the park, the cloth of her black, wide-legged jumpsuit swinging in rhythm with her steps, the platforms of her espadrilles stamping out footprints on the sandy path. Bright red lipstick, burgundy nails and a flowered comb pinned into her jet black hair-do. Yes, we know we’re in good hands when it comes to touring Paris’ best vintage spots.

The editorial is inspired by story of Einar Wegener well-known as Lili Elbe, first transgender in history. Lili Elbe (28 December 1882 – 13 September 1931), was a Danish transgender woman and one of the first identifiable recipients of sex reassignment surgery.
Elbe was born Einar Magnus Andreas Wegener and was a successful painter under that name. She also presented as Lili and was publicly introduced as Einar’s sister.
After successfully transitioning in 1930, she made a legal name change to Lili Ilse Elvenes and stopped painting altogether.

THE REAL FACE OF DEPRESSION
(Photographic Museum of Humanity)
In May 2018 my doctor confirmed that I have a depression.
That's how my project been started.
My name is Daria Nelson, I am Ukrainian photographer living and studying photography in Paris.
More that one year ago I've completely changed my style and started dress up in retro/vintage clothes only. It gave me much more confidence, but the mental issues I had for years didn't disappear.
I have been always surrounded by people who told me that all my "mental health" problems are not really important as that's just a part pf my my imagination. They were sure that so elegant and beautiful lady can be unhappy or more than inside.
I started this project to show that it's more that okay to be "not okay".
And I continue.
Because mental health does matter.
